Drew Johansen

Drew Johansen serves as the head diving coach at Indiana University. He was appointed head coach of the U.S. diving team for the 2012, 2016, and 2020 Olympic Games in London, Rio, and Tokyo by USA Diving. Before these roles, Drew spent a decade as a U.S. National Team coach. During his tenure, the United States secured one gold, five silver, and four bronze medals, positioning the US team as the world’s second-largest medal producer. Additionally, Drew Johansen was honored three times as the CSCAA Diving Coach of the Year (men’s in 2018 and 2023, women’s in 2022) and five times as the Big Ten Diving Coach of the Year (men’s in 2014, 2018, 2019, and 2023, women’s in 2022).


John Appleman has been the Elite/High Performance Director of the Mission Viejo Nadadores Diving program for the past 2.5 years. In that time, the Nadadores have been the Junior National Team Champions and have produced a Junior World Champion, 8 Junior Pan Am Medalists and placed an athlete on the 2024 World Championship Team in Doha, Qatar.

Prior to Mission Viejo, John has done extensive stints at The Woodlands Diving Academy, Purude University, Ohio State Diving Club and Dominion Dive Club. His career has put him as the head coach of multiple Junior World and Junior Pan Am Championship teams and on the staff of multiple World Championship, World Cup and Grand Prix Teams. His athletes have won a combined 60 Junior National Titles and 6 Senior National Titles as well as 2 Junior National Team Titles and a Senior National Team Title.

The Marguerite Aquatic Complex hosts one of the best outdoor diving facilities in the world. A separate diving well has four 1m springboards (2 on a concrete platform), 2 3m springboards on a concrete platform, a full dive tower with 1m, 3m, 5m, 7,5m, and 10m platforms, and a bubbler system for 3m springboard, 3/7m platform, and 5/10m platform bubbles. The dryland facility has 2 in-ground trampolines, 3 dryboards into a foam pit with movable crash mats, spring floor, and a plethora of boxes, mats, and flipping stations. Both dryland and water areas have a video playback system to see all actions performed.

Join us September 27-29, 2024. Cost of the camp will be $275 for coaches and $500 for athletes (60 divers max). For every 5 athletes from a program registered for the camp, that program will have one coaches fee reimbursed for the camp.
