Mission Viejo, CA… The Mission Viejo Nadadores Diving Team is thrilled to announce the hiring of Lauren Thiel-Lopez as its new Elite Team Assistant Coach. “We were looking for a dedicated coach who could immediately make an impact to our program. Lauren’s attitude and demeanor will fit right into our program and we are delighted to have found such an outstanding female mentor and coach for our divers,” said John Appleman, Elite/High Performance Director for the Nadadores. Thiel-Lopez comes to the Nadadores from Mesa, Arizona where she was the founder and head coach for East Valley Diving for a decade. Her divers have qualified for Junior Nationals every year since the program’s inception in 2013.
In addition to being an accomplished coach, she has also served as an international team leader at the Canada Cup and completed the prestigious Coach Accelerator Program through the USOPC. Named “Coach of the Year” by both the AAU and Arizona Interscholastic Association, she has also served as a representative to the Rules Committee for USA Diving. In response to the hire Thiel-Lopez stated, “I am honored to be joining the incredible coaching staff in Mission Viejo this fall. I am excited to begin this next chapter of my life and coaching career, working with the exceptional Nadadores divers.
I believe success can best be achieved in an environment of structure and laughter. I strive to help develop intrinsic motivation, time management skills and detail-oriented skill progressions with athletes of all levels.” Thiel-Lopez will begin her duties in late August and be responsible for co-coaching the Elite level divers.
